Margot Voorhies Thompson is a painter, printmaker, designer and calligrapher who creates studio work as well as public art projects. She was an Eliot scholar at Reed College and also studied at PNCA, Lewis and Clark College and the Hochschule Fur Kunsterlische in Linz, Austria. This remarkable, large-format abstract work is a bold juxtaposition of color blocks combined with diary-like scrawlings, a compartmentalisation of emotions and thoughts. It is a brilliant work which instantly attracted us when we found it. Thompson’s has created numerous public commissions including ones at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, the Woodstock Public Library, Portland State University and the State of Oregon Library. The Portland Art Museum, Brooklyn Art Museum, and the Stanford University Hospital hold pieces in their private collections.
